The classic color combination of pinks and greens had only just started to take hold of and delight our senses once again with the recent release of the movie, “Wicked” when suddenly Mocha Mousse came along as Color of the Year.

It seemed so dismal and disappointing. Many in the industry automatically groaned at the reveal because their initial response was to try and imagine their client’s walls smeared in the color of dog doo. Some with an anxious nature have even mused that it foreshadows darker, less joyful times for our interiors.
I have a different take.

What if we add Mocha Mousse to some of our more vibrant color combinations? Consider, for example, using earthy variations on the floor, in the choice of finish, fabric, furnishings, or accents, including richer-toned woods, warm brown leathers, and other natural elements that balance and ground your whimsical color fantasies.
A little Mocha Mousse can bring the overall color or design scheme down to earth and, at the same time, elevate it.
I invite you to hold space for this sepia-like color of the year.
